After a tree is removed, stump grinding is the final step to fully restoring your landscape. We use specialized, powerful machinery to grind the stump down 8-12 inches below ground level, effectively destroying the core and major surface roots. This process ensures the area is leveled, safe, and ready for you to lay sod, plant new grass, or start a garden.
When Is It Necessary?
After a tree has been removed, the stump left behind can be an eyesore and a potential hazard. That’s where stump grinding comes in. We use specialized machinery to grind the stump down to a depth of 200-300 millimetres below ground level. This ensures that it is completely removed and the area is levelled out to prevent any holes.
Whether you have an old stump, visible roots, or recently removed a tree, our qualified staff can evaluate the area and provide stump grinding services as long as there is no risk of damage to any surrounding trees or roots. Once the job is done, you’ll be able to replant or grow new grass in the area where the stump once stood.

A: The grinding process creates a nutrient-rich wood chip mulch. Many clients choose to keep this for use in garden beds. If you prefer, we can haul it away for you for an additional fee. We will discuss these options with you upfront.
A: We don’t recommend it. Besides being a tripping hazard, a decaying stump can attract termites, ants, and other pests. It can also sprout new, unwanted growth for years. Grinding is the safest and most complete solution.
A: Not necessarily. As long as our crew has clear access to the stump and the area is clear of obstacles (like patio furniture or toys), you do not need to be present for us to complete the work.
